Family law is about balancing the needs of the children with the rights and responsibilities of parents, ensuring that the best interests of the family are protected through fairness, compassion, and respect.
Mikal Stole has rapidly established himself as one of the leading family law attorneys in the Will County and Grundy County courthouses. He has successfully represented clients in intricate cases involving high-net-worth estates, child custody disputes (allocation of parental responsibilities), and divorces involving business interests, while also handling routine matters with efficiency. Mikal’s expertise in family law is extensive. Beyond being a skilled litigator, he has also excelled in drafting appellate court briefs on family law matters and is frequently appointed as Guardian ad Litem, serving as the court’s witness in child custody cases. His talent and dedication have earned him recognition as an Illinois Super Lawyer since 2022. Mikal is also a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), the leading national organization of family law attorneys.
As Co-Chairperson of the Will County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee, Mikal has been instrumental in organizing the annual Family Law Seminar and frequently shares his insights as a speaker on family law topics. His leadership and commitment to the legal community further highlight his dedication to advancing the practice of family law.
Outside of his legal practice, Mikal has served two terms as a Village Trustee for the Village of Lansing, Illinois (elected in 2009 and 2013). As an unmarried father, Mikal has a unique understanding of the challenges faced by clients in matters of custody and parenting time. He firmly believes that Reich, Jumbeck, Stole & Reeb are unmatched in preparation, legal knowledge, and litigation expertise.
